TACTICAL HANDCUFF TRAINING

Class Length:  2 hours classroom & 2 hours hands-on training and drills (4 Hours Total)

ASP Tactical Handcuffing is a 4-hour hands-on training seminar designed to train participants in the operational use of the hinged and chain handcuffs, as well as the proprietary ASP flex-cuffs.  The program is simple to learn and easy to understand.  It provides effective mechanical restraint tactics for law enforcement and private security personnel without long hours of training.  These tactics are quickly learned, easily practiced and readily maintained long after the program is completed.  

This course acquaints Law Enforcement, Protection & Security Officers with the operational use of the ASP Tactical Baton.  The handcuff techniques in this program are designed to meet three standards of training:  

1. The techniques work on the street, not just in the classroom.
2. The techniques are court defensible and are backed by the nation’s most experienced use-of-force consultants. 
3. The program is administratively feasible for use in a contemporary private security or law enforcement agency.    

The program provides portation (carrying) and presentation (drawing) procedures as well as application techniques.  The techniques were designed to work effectively for all users, male and female, large and small, physically fit as well as those in less-than-peak physical condition.  

Certification acknowledges that the individual has met a competency-based standard of knowledge and performance.  This is not a "show up and pass" type course.  Full active participation, effort, and satisfactory demonstration of techniques are required. 

WHY TAKE THIS COURSE: Improper handcuffing techniques can lead to significant long-term injury to the person whom the handcuffs are applied.  Improper application of handcuffs can also lead to civil and criminal liability on the part of the officer.

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Wear training shoes with good lateral support & Rubber Sole (NO SANDALS, NO CROCS, NO SLIP-ON SHOES, ETC.)
• Pants with belt loops that your inner belt can be affixed to 

              (NO SHORTS, NO SWEATPANTS, NO YOGA PANTS, ETC.) 

• An inner belt is what is most needed, so you don’t have to tear down your duty rig (You may wear your duty belt)
• Chain or Hinged Handcuffs & Handcuff Case (Cuff cases must be securely fastened to a rigid clothing belt or duty-style belt) It is recommended that police officers and private security personnel bring and wear their entire duty belts to assist in creating a more realistic training scenario.
• We will provide all other equipment to be used during training  
• Bring what you will need to stay hydrated
• Note-Taking Material (pen, pencil, and paper to take notes in the classroom)
• No functional firearms, live ammunition or knives are allowed at the training

** Contact us if you do not have a set of handcuffs and/or Handcuff Case.  We can provide you with a set of handcuffs and/or case and add it to the cost of training.  You may also rent handcuffs and a handcuff case from us.  We must have enough time to order your handcuffs before the date of your class.
