ASP Tactical Baton Basic Certification (ABC)

Class Length:   2 hours classroom & 5 hours hands-on training and drills (7 Hours Total)

The ASP Basic Certification (ABC) is a 7-hour field-level certification program designed to acquaint Law Enforcement, Protection & Security Officers with the operational use of the ASP Tactical Baton.  The impact weapon techniques in all ASP Expandable Baton programs are designed to meet three standards of training:  

1. The techniques work on the street, not just in the classroom.
2. The techniques are court defensible and are backed by the nation’s most experienced use-of-force consultants. 
3. The program is administratively feasible for use in a contemporary private security or law enforcement agency.    

This hands-on seminar provides training in the operational use of the ASP Expandable Baton and includes basic portation (carrying), presentation (drawing) procedures, as well as striking techniques.  These tactics are quickly learned, easily practiced and readily maintained long after the program is completed.  

The ASP Expandable Baton program is simple to learn and easy to understand. There are no complicated holds or complex moves.  It provides effective defensive impact weapon tactics for law enforcement and private security personnel, as well as responsible civilians without long hours of training.  The techniques were designed to work effectively for all users, male and female, large and small, physically fit as well as those in less-than-peak physical condition.  

Certification acknowledges that the individual has met a competency-based standard of knowledge and performance.  This is not a "show up and pass" type course.  Full active participation, effort, and satisfactory demonstration of techniques are required. 

The ASP Expandable Baton is designed to be used as a defensive impact weapon, not a come-along device. 

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Wear training shoes with good lateral support & Rubber Sole (NO SANDALS, NO CROCS, NO SLIP-ON SHOES, ETC.)
• Pants with belt loops that your inner belt can be affixed to 

              (NO SHORTS, NO SWEATPANTS, NO YOGA PANTS, ETC.) 

• An inner belt is what is most needed, so you don’t have to tear down your duty rig (You may wear your duty belt)
• ASP Tactical Baton & Scabbard/Holder.  (Only ASP batons are permitted in this course.)
• We will provide all other equipment to be used during training  
• Bring what you will need to stay hydrated
• Note-Taking Material (pen, pencil, and paper to take notes in the classroom)
• No functional firearms, live ammunition or knives are allowed at the training

** Contact us if you do not have an ASP Baton and/or Scabbard (Holder).  We can provide you with an ASP Baton of your choice and add it to the cost of training.  We must have enough time to order your choice of baton before the date of your class.
