All classes start at 8:00 a.m. and finish after the Shooting Qualification.  This is a full day of training.

TRAINING PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

At Spearhead Tactical we train you right.  We never cut corners and ensure that you receive all the required training and understand the legal requirements to lawfully carry your concealed handgun.


The state of North Carolina requires any person applying for a NC Concealed Carry Handgun Permit to complete an authorized Concealed Carry Handgun Training program from an certified

Concealed Carry Handgun Firearms Instructor.  The program consists of Eight (8) hours of classroom training followed by a written test, then a shooting qualification on the firing range.


Classroom training consists of training on the following topics:

  • Legal Issues (two hours)
  • Handgun Nomenclature
  • Handgun Safety
  • Handgun Fundamentals
  • Marksmanship Fundamentals
  • Carrying Concealed Safety Issues
  • Presentation Techniques
  • Cleaning & Maintenance
  • Ammunition
  • Proficiency Drills


The Written test consists of 20 questions covering the above listed course topics.  You must achieve a minimum of 70% (14 out of 20) to pass the test and move on to the shooting qualification.

 

The Shooting Qualification is a 40-round course of fire.  Students must achieve a minimum qualifying score of 70% (28 out of 40) on a B-27 human silhouette, or equivalent, target.  You must hit anywhere on the silhouette for the shot to count.  Students must shoot the listed number of rounds from the following distances:

  • 10 shots at 3 yards
  • 15 shots at 5 yards
  • 15 shots at 7 yards


Students must pass the Written Test & Shooting Qualification in order to pass the course and receive their certificate.

Obtaining your NC Concealed Carry Handgun Permit is a fairly simple process.  You must meet the following criteria to obtain your North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun Permit:


  • Be a U.S. or Naturalized citizen
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Have been a resident for at least 30 days in the county of application. 
  • Not have a mental or physical infirmity that would      prevent safe handgun handling
  • Provide a valid driver’s license or other photo ID with a current address provided by the State of N.C.
  • Successfully complete an approved firearms training and safety course (See the column to the left)


There are additional legal prohibitions that may keep an applicant from receiving a permit.  Legal disqualifiers include but may not be limited to:

  • Adjudicated Guilty in any court of a Felony 
  • Discharged from the U.S. Armed Forces under conditions other than Honorable
  • Conviction of a drug or alcohol related offense or the applicant is considered “an unlawful user of, or addicted to marijuana, alcohol, or any depressant, stimulant, or narcotic drug or any other controlled substance.”
  • Conviction for Domestic Violence
  •  Are ineligible to own, possess or receive a firearm under provisions of any state or federal law

MORE INFORMATION

Individuals aged 18-20 may complete the NC-CCH Training Course and earn their training certificate.  The information on Legal Issues pertaining to the Use of Deadly Force and Handgun Safety contained in the NC-CCH course are valuable at any age.  Residents of NC can obtain a concealed carry permit after they turn 21 years of age by applying with their County Sheriff's Office.  You must apply with the Sheriff's Office in the county of your legal residence as they are over the application process..

           Worried about remembering your training?  Spearhead Global Security students may, and are encouraged to, refresh their training for free by attending any of our scheduled NC-CCH courses.  Simply contact us for confirmation of your attendance.  


*  You must have received your training certificate with Spearhead Global Security to qualify for free refresher training.


** Refresher students may attend free of charge but will not receive a new training certificate.
