The ASP Basic Certification (ABC) is a 7-hour field-level certification program (2 hours classroom & 5 hours hands-on training) designed to acquaint Law Enforcement, Protection & Security Officers with the operational use of the ASP Tactical Baton, Handcuffs and Tactical Flashlights.
This hands-on training seminar includes basic portation (carrying) and presentation (drawing) techniques as well as defensive application procedures (striking techniques). Certification acknowledges that the individual has met a competency-based standard of knowledge and performance.
The ASP Expandable Baton is designed to be used as a defensive impact weapon, not a come-along device. There are no complicated holds or complex moves.
ASP Tactical Handcuffing is a 4-hour hands-on training seminar designed to train participants in the operational use of the hinged and chain handcuffs, as well as the proprietary ASP flex-cuffs. The program is simple to learn and easy to understand. It provides effective mechanical restraint tactics for law enforcement and private security personnel without long hours of training. These tactics are quickly learned, easily practiced and readily maintained long after the program is completed.
This course acquaints Law Enforcement, Protection & Security Officers with the operational use of the ASP Tactical Baton. The handcuff techniques in this program are designed to meet three standards of training: 1) The techniques work on the street, not just in the classroom. 2) The techniques are court defensible and are backed by the nation’s most experienced use-of-force consultants. 3) The program is administratively feasible for use in a contemporary private security or law enforcement agency.
The program provides portation (carrying) and presentation (drawing) procedures as well as application techniques. The techniques were designed to work effectively for all users, male and female, large and small, physically fit as well as those in less-than-peak physical condition.
Certification acknowledges that the individual has met a competency-based standard of knowledge and performance. This is not a "show up and pass" type course. Full active participation, effort, and satisfactory demonstration of techniques are required.
ASP Tactical Flashlight is a 4-hour hands-on training seminar designed to train participants in the use of tactical lighting procedures. With critical input from certified trainers at major law enforcement agencies around the globe, Armament Systems and Procedures (ASP), one of the leading manufacturers of law enforcement products, has developed a first of its kind training course that integrates flashlights. These procedures are applicable for everyday use by law enforcement officers, security guards, and others in the executive/close protection industry.
The program is simple to learn and easy to understand. The flashlight techniques in this program: 1) Works effectively. 2) Incorporates drills which simulate the stress of street encounters. 3) Provides a basic understanding of the conditions in which the product may be used, justification for use, and how to document these actions. 4) Based on modern, court defensible standards for less lethal use of force.
Certification acknowledges that the individual has met a competency-based standard of knowledge and performance. This is not a "show up and pass" type course. Full active participation, effort, and satisfactory demonstration of techniques are required.
